Many people like to keep dogs with medium and long hair, but is the dog's hair easy to tangle? What should I do? How to comb the hair of a long-haired dog?
Many people like to keep dogs with medium and long hair, but is the dog's hair easy to tangle? What should I do? How to comb the hair of a long-haired dog?
Get a comb ready
  • Pin comb + row comb gold
: Pin comb is responsible for untangling, and row comb is for finishing inspection. Choose a round-headed pin comb with moderate tooth spacing to avoid scratching the skin; the row comb teeth should be dense, which can accurately pull out the hidden small hair knots.
  • Untangling spray is not an IQ tax
: Dry combing is easy to pull the hair, spray some spray containing glycerin or keratin to soften the hair scales, and the comb will slide to the bottom.
  • Reverse combing taboo
: Combing from the tip of the hair to the root is a wrong demonstration! The correct method is to comb from the skin to the outside in layers along the direction of hair growth, and gently use your fingers to open the knots before combing.

Bathing
If you don't comb before bathing, it will become a "steel ball" directly after bathing.
Three steps of pretreatment
Before bathing, comb thoroughly with a comb, especially underarms, leg pits, and tail base; wear a collar to prevent licking; the water temperature is controlled at around 38℃, which is slightly cooler than human bath water.
Choose the right type of shampoo
Avoid products containing silicone oil and strong cleaning ingredients, and choose amino acid surfactant + hair care ingredients, which can remove dirt without damaging hair.
Rinse thoroughly
Residual shampoo will make the hair dry and tangled, rinse at least twice until the water flow is completely clear.
There are skills to blow hair
First, wipe with an absorbent towel until no water drips, then use a constant temperature hair dryer with a pin comb, comb and blow while combing, and alternate between hot and cold air to avoid burns.

Daily maintenance
Hair tangles are not formed in one day. Daily care is lazy, 10 minutes a day, better than going to the beauty salon every month.
  • Zoning care method
Divide the dog into four areas: head, back, limbs, and tail, comb one area every day, and repeat. Focus on checking the parts that are prone to knotting, such as behind the ears and in the crevices of the legs.
  • Dietary adjustment
: Healthy hair requires nutritional support. Choose dog food containing Omega-3 and lecithin, and occasionally feed salmon scraps or cooked egg yolks to cultivate smooth hair from the inside out.
  • Environmental management
: Reduce the frequency of wearing synthetic clothes and sleeping on rough mats. Static electricity will make hair more prone to knotting. Wipe your feet with wet wipes after going out to avoid dust and foreign objects entangled in the hair.
If the hair knots have become hard "felt pieces", don't comb them hard! Forcibly untying the knots may tear the hair follicles and even cause skin diseases.
  • Local trimming
: Use an electric razor to trim serious hair knots close to the skin. Be careful not to shave the skin and leave a 1-2 mm protective layer.
  • Regular grooming
: Take your dog to the pet store for grooming every 2-3 months. Professional beauticians will design styles according to your needs, such as "Teddy outfit" and "Mushroom head", which are both beautiful and reduce the risk of knotting.
  • Learn basic trimming
: Buy a pair of pet-specific scissors and follow the tutorial to trim the hair on the bottom of the feet and around the anus, as these areas are most likely to harbor dirt.
